Geriatric hedgehog

Unfortunately the hedgehog featured in my ‘Tick galore’ post was euthanased. We kept him for 10 days and put him on a course of steroids however he did not make any improvement and still could not use his back legs. We suspect he had hibernated with the spondylosis which had caused problems with his spine and subsequently made him lose function of his back legs. A sad but peaceful ending for a geriatric hedgehog.
